Final Regular Season Game Special For 14 Sulphur Seniors
This Friday will be very special for 14 Sulphur High School senior football players.
Not only will it be senior night where they will be recognized for their hard work and commitment in their last regularly scheduled game at Agee Field, but it will also be a time of reflection and remembrance of their first high school coach, Jim Dixon.
“These seniors have been through a lot in their high school careers and we want to send them out on Senior Night the right way,” said head Bulldog coach, Corey Cole.
“They were freshman when we lost Coach Dixon tragically in 2021 and they have done nothing but continued to work hard and give everything they have to live up to the standards that Coach Dixon laid out for this program for 50 years. I can tell you without hesitation that Coach Dixon would be extremely proud of these young men and how they represent Sulphur football on a daily basis. These young men this Friday have the chance to do something that only two other Sulphur teams have ever done (2002, 2004) - and that’s complete the regular season 10-0. It would be a huge accomplishment for this group and definitely would put a special end to Senior Night.”

Special Night
The Dogs took care of the district title last week in a win at Victory Christian, and this week, in their final regular season game, they will be gunning for that coveted undefeated season when they host Mannford.
The Pirates (6-3, 3-3) will also have a great deal on the line this Friday as well.
Said Cole about his opponent, “Mannford brings in a team that is trying to get into the playoffs and if they can beat us, they will find their way into the playoffs.”
Against that backdrop, Cole said he feels like the Dogs will get Mannford’s best play of the season, and it is incumbent on his team that they prepare well this week and “make sure we get better.”
Cole said Friday’s game is a huge opportunity for his team as they go for a 10-0 regular season.
“This is a huge opportunity for us this Friday, and we have to play fast, play physical, and be the best versions of ourselves to make sure we are ready for a playoff run that will begin next week. We will have to play disciplined defense against Mannford’s wing-T offense, they have scored a lot of points this season and cause teams problems if they don’t play assignment football. Offensively we need to stay on the attack and continue to take care of the ball.”
Mannford had one big district win this season, a 21-18 triumph over Bristow. They lost in a close one last week to Seminole, 4434. Their other district wins came against McLoud, 41-13, and Victory Christian, 48-14.
Game-time this Friday in Sulphur is 7:00 p.m.
