First-Ever Meeting Of The Two Teams Goes Off Here At 7:00 P.M.

The undefeated Bulldogs will head into the quarterfinal round of the Class 3A football playoffs this Friday in their first-ever meeting against Holland Hall.

The Dutch (10-1) will bring to Agee Field in Sulphur one of the best teams in the state, their only loss coming at the hands of top ranked Lincoln Christian in the fifth game of the season.

“Holland Hall has a great team with tremendous team speed,” said head Sulphur coach, Corey Cole. “Their quarterback has had a great season with over 2,500 yards passing and 25+ touchdowns, and only one interception.”

Cole said their receiving corps is top notch with two of them closing in on 800 yards for the season. They compliment that with two good running backs and possess good size and quickness up front, he said.

Cole also said the team plays great on defense.

“Defensively, they are fast and play an aggressive and attacking style defense,” he said. “They have played a tough schedule and have been in some close games that they found a way to win.”

Last week with their backs against the wall to Berryhill, down 14-0, the Dutch were able to come back and beat Berryhill in overtime on the last play of the game.

Quarterfinals

Holland Hall, a Tulsa area school, was fast out of the gate to start the season, beating down four opponents before their loss to powerful Lincoln Christian.

The Dutch got wins over Cascia Hall (27-6), Will Rogers (47-0), Victory Christian (49-7), Idabel (50-31) before their loss to Lincoln Christian (62-0). The team regrouped and won their next six with wins over Eufaula (51-21), Checotah (29-26), Muldrow (19-8), Locust Grove (44-26), and Stigler (42-33) to close out the regular season.

“They will be ready to go this Friday and have lots of firepower that we must contain,” said Cole.

The Dogs must play at peak performance this Friday night to have a chance to win, according to Cole.

“We have to do a much better job of taking care of the ball this week and continue to take the ball away defensively,” he said. “We must cut out all the bad penalties and mental errors and cannot give up many big plays. We need to enforce our physical style of play early and continue to be aggressive in all aspects of the game.

“This is a huge game this Friday, we need you Bulldog fans to be there and be rowdy,” he said.
