City Council OKs Payroll Hike For December

In a special called meeting of the Sulphur City Council, members approved an amendment to increase the approximate amount of payroll for December, 2025 in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00.

The same amount was also approved in the Sulphur Municipal Authority meeting.

According to staff, the increase was necessary due to potential underpayment on holiday payments for the calendar year 2025 for some employees. The payments needed to be corrected and made before December 31, 2025, according to city staff members.

Members also approved the Non-Terminal Agency Agreement between the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System and the Sulphur Police Department. OLETS is the computer network that connects public safety agencies across the state.

A Task Order request for Parkhill Engineering to work with the Sulphur Public schools for West 9th Street improvements was discussed by the members. Members agreed to allow Parkhill Associate Brian Mitchell to visit with school officials and discuss what plans they are requesting and report back to council members for the Task Order approval.

After some discussion and recommended article wording changes, the members approved the agreement with changes, between the Sulphur Professional Firefighters’ Association and the City of Sulphur for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.Approval of the agreement had been delayed due to a recent arbitration hearing between the Firefighters Association Union and the City of Sulphur for a wage increase for the firemen. The arbitration outcome ruled in favor of the firemen.

Members approved a City of Sulphur/ Sulphur Municipal Authority credit card policy as drafted by the Sulphur City Attorney.

Members approved action on Bid 2025-115 for repairs to a Freightliner trash truck that was previously tabled at the regular meeting until insurance issues could be resolved.

In final action, members approved Task Order No. 3 to Del Sol Consulting, Inc. for continued storm related services in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00.

Ward 4 Councilman Ryan Peters was absent from the meeting.
