One Dead, One Injured In Separate Accidents

A Healdton man died and a Sulphur man was injured in separate accidents in this area recently.

On January 8, Benny J. Kinsey, 51, Healdton, died when his vehicle crashed on Memorial Rd., just east of S.H. 76, in Carter County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Kinsey’s ATV went off the road for an unknown reason, struck a barbed-wire fence before overturning and ejecting him.

The accident happened about 5:14 p.m., according to the patrol. In an accident on January 10, a Sulphur man was injured when his vehicle hit a deer in the road on U.S. 177, in Carter County, the patrol said.

Troopers said Stephen C. Walker, 49, was headed southbound about 3:40 p.m., on U.S. 177 at the intersection of Seven Sisters Road when he swerved right to avoid the deer. The vehicle partially departed road to the right, reentered the road, then went off the road to left, overturning and coming to rest in a ditch, the patrol said.
