Five Other Sulphur Players Selected As Honorable Mention
ASulphur player who set seven school records in football during his four-year career with the Dogs, was recently named to The Oklahoma’s All-State football roster.
In a January Times-Democrat article, Maddax Mobly was described by head Bulldog coach Corey Cole as one of the best players to ever strap on a Bulldog uniform, and that level of success was not overlooked by those choosing the best of the best for theirAll-State team, selecting him as a first team defensive back.
Four other Bulldog players, seniors Colten Cole, Bridge Barrett, Kale Brakefield, and juniors JoJo Gray and Kash Pickett, were named to the paper’s honorable mention All-State team.
Mobly was among only five players in Class 3A and below to make the prestigious, 26-person team. He was a key member of Bulldog’s back-to-back state championship appearances in 2024 and 2025, and put up jaw-dropping numbers throughout an impressive career with the Dogs.
Defensively in 2025, Mobly had 108 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 fumble recoveries. He also added 1,052 yards rushing, 858 yards receiving, and 31 total touchdowns.
Throughout his career, Mobly rushed for 3,609 yards, scored 58 TD’s, had 2,231 yards receiving and 26 TD’s. He scored 91 career touchdowns, made 318 tackles, intercepted 10 passes with two pick-sixes, recovered 7 fumbles for touchdowns, and had 6,841 career all-purpose yards.
“I don’t know the correct number but we have not had many Sulphur Bulldogs make the first team of The Oklahoman’s All-State team,” said Cole. “Being selected as an Oklahoman allstater is a prestigious award as they select the best players in the state regardless of classification.”
In 2024, Mobly and Justus Gilliam, both were chosen as second teamAll-State by the publication.
Mobly is also among 10 finalists for the Prep Redzone Player of the Year after being awarded the Class 3APrep Redzone Player of the year.
He has already committed to Navy and will play collegiately for the Midshipmen in the coming years.
