Six Sulphur Athletes Commit For Next-Level Competition
Six Sulphur athletes will fan out and take their athletic skills to the next level this fall after committing to colleges and universities last Friday on National Signing Day.
The six are Kale Brakefield, Bridge Barrett, Colten Cole, and Maddax Mobly, all of whom played in various Bulldog sports, and Jolee Thomas and Landri Oxley for the Lady Bulldogs.
This year’s signing class was just one short of last year’s total in which seven members of the Sulphur football team signed for next-level competition in the largest signing class ever at the school.
Among this year’s class are three Division I signees, Cole, Mobly and Thomas.
Cole will be headed to Rice University in Houston, while Mobly will trek east to the U.S. Naval Academy, both on football scholarships, and Thomas will stay in state to compete on the Oklahoma State University Lady Cowboy wrestling team.
Brakefield and Barrett will also stay in state on football scholarships at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, and Landri Oxley will take the short drive to North Central Texas College in Gainesville for softball.
Following is a short synopsis of each of prep players:
Jolee Thomas
Oklahoma State University - Wrestling
Thomas has a 66-6 career record in wrestling and is 21-0 this season. She is a three-time Midwestern Conference champion, two-time regional champion, two-time state placer (3rd in 2024 and 2nd in 2025), and was named outstanding wrestler at four tournaments this season.
Landri Oxley
North Central Texas College - Softball
Oxley is a first-team All-District catcher, a first team All-Regional catcher, a two-year Sulphur starter in softball, and a four-year career starter. She plays both slow and fast pitch.
Kale Brakefield Northwestern Oklahoma State University - Football Brakefield made the Oklahoman All-State honorable mention team, and was named the All-District 3A-2 first team quarterback. He had season record of 2,849 yards for the Bulldogs this season, tied the season record for touchdowns thrown (33), and only lost one game in his high school career. He was the Prep Redzone All-State honorable mention in football. He had 36 touchdowns in 2025 and 3,100 total yards.
Bridge Barrett
Northwestern Oklahoma State University - Football Barrett was named to the 3A West All Star Football team, and was Prep Redzone second team All-State recipient. He had 1,012 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in 2025. Defensively, he had four interceptions, four fumble recoveries in 2025 to go along with14 career interceptions, and five career defensive TD’s . He was the 3A-2 Defensive Back Of The Year, and a three-year starter for the Dogs.
He had a Sulphur record 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a Sulphur record 99-yard receiving touchdown.
He was top 3 in all-time career interceptions for the Dogs, and was a multi-sport athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball.
Colten Cole
Rice University - Football
Cole was named to the 3A West All-Star football team, and was a four-year starter for the Dogs, starting in 49 games. He was named to the OCA West All-State Football team, was honorable mention to the Oklahoman All-State team, and was honorable mention on the Prep Redzone All-State team. Additionally, he was named as the District 3A-2 Special Teams Player Of The Year.
He had 39 career receptions for 608 yards, and 9 TD’s, and another 2,650 yards passing, and 33 touchdowns for Sulphur.
Among his school records are: 158 made career extra points, 10 career field goals and the most extra points made in a season (2024). He had a career punting average of 41.8 yards and accounted for 47 career touchdowns.
He played football, basketball, and baseball.
Maddax Mobly
U.S. Naval Academy - Football
A four-year starter for Sulphur, Mobly started in 50 games, and was named to the Tulsa World and Oklahoman first team All-State squad. He was also named to the 3AWest All-Star team by class, and the OCA All-State football team, and the Prep Redzone first team All-State.
He is the first Sulphur player to make the first team by the Oklahoman, Tulsa World, Prep Redzone, and the Oklahoma Coaches Association. He set five school records at Sulphur, including: 91 career touchdowns, 6,741 all-purpose career yards, 121 career receptions, 2,31 career receiving yards, and 26 career receiving touchdowns.
He had 3,602 career rushing yards and 58 touchdowns. Defensively, he had 318 career tackles, 10 career interceptions, and seven career fumble recoveries.
He was in football, wrestling and baseball.
