Dogs Win Ardmore Wrestling Title

Landy DeArman, Jolee Thomas Awarded Outstanding Wrestler Plaques

Sulphur was well represented in last week’s Ardmore Invitational wrestling tournament, winning the team title and two outstanding wrestler awards.

In the tournament, held Tuesday, Feb. 3, three Sulphur wrestlers won titles in their weight classes in the boy’s division, and two Lady Bulldogs were crowned champs.

In the boy’s division, Landy DeArman, wrestling at 138 pounds, was crowned the male outstanding wrestler, and Jolee Thomas, wrestling at 145 pounds, won her weight division and the female outstanding wrestler award.

All total, the Bulldogs crowned three individual champions and the Lady Bulldogs won two.

Winning first place for the Dogs were Angel Rios (106), Triston Barnes (126), and DeArman.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Thomas and Bintlee Burch (145) won first place titles.

•Brody Wallace (Hwt.), 3rd The Bulldogs will be getting ready this week for the dual state tournament this Saturday at Tulsa Union UMAC. They will face Bristow in a 10:00 a.m. match. The winner will face the winner of the Ft. Gibson-Sallisaw match at 2:00 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, Tuttle and Skiatook will face off and the Cushing-Cache will meet, in bouts at 10:00 a.m.

The finals will be held at 6:30 p.m.
