Sulphur Team Notches Third State Title In Four Years
The Sulphur Lady Bulldogs continued their dominance on the state stage last week, capturing their second consecutive championship at the OGPCA State Powerlifting meet. The championship was held Tuesday, March 3 at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant.
Sulphur finished with 112 team points to outdistance runner-up Idabel Lady Warriors, who totaled 99 points. Cushing, Fort Gibson, and Kingston rounded out the top five teams with 92, 64, and 53 points respectively.
The victory secured backto- back state titles for the Lady Bulldogs and marked an especially impressive milestone for the senior class, which has now won the championship three times in the past four years.
Sulphur’s depth proved key throughout the meet, as every athlete who qualified for state contributed to the team’s championship performance with strong lifts and valuable points.
Leading the way was Zoli May, who captured the state championship in the 143-pound weight class with an impressive three-lift total of 775 pounds.
May set two state records at the meet, 150 pounds in the bench press, and 775 pounds total lift. She is also a two-time state powerlifting champion.
Several Lady Bulldogs also earned runner-up finishes.
In the 105-pound class, Madelyn McClure totaled 590 pounds to claim second place. She also set a new state record in the deadlift with 270 pounds.
In the 123-pound class, Addy Hardoin finished as state runner- up with a total of 685 pounds.
In the 168-pound class, Olivia Cox also placed second, recording a total of 760 pounds.
Sulphur also picked up several other key placements that helped secure the team title.
In the 168-pound division, Savannah Patrick placed fourth with a 730-pound total; Bailey Sullivan finished eighth in the 123-pound class with a total of 620 pounds; Kensley Rochelle placed seventh in the 143-pound division with 675 pounds; and in the 220-pound class,Anahi Uribe added points with an eighth-place finish and a 735-pound total.
Together, the performances added up to another historic moment for Sulphur’s program, completing a perfect season and cementing the Lady Bulldogs’ place among the state’s elite powerlifting teams.
With another championship trophy in hand and a senior class that helped build a powerhouse program, the Lady Bulldogs closed the 2026 season exactly where they hoped to be — on top of the state podium.
