Sulphur Board Of Education members met for the regular monthly meeting Monday night.
Superintendent Matt Holder presented the financial status of the district telling members the schools were in good financial standing for this time of the year. Holder stated the district should finish the year strong with over a $2 million carry-over at the close of the fiscal year on June 30. Holder reported more than $9 million total in all funds including the general fund, child nutrition, building fund, bond fund, sinking fund and gifts fund.
Holder told members that summer school began today (Monday) and campus maintenance repairs and projects are underway including new lighting for the football field. Holder reported the new building project is getting close and could be open by the start of the new year.
Members approved several annual contracts for the upcoming 26-27 school year which include:
•Renewal sublease agreement between the Murray County educational facilities and the district;
•Contract with OSAG for workman’s comp with premium lower than last year; •2026-2027 Insurance policy for property, liability (all), inland marine and automobile for $419,000.00, down slightly from last year; •Credit card policy;
•Substitute policy (mainly for long term substitutes);
•THRIVE online education platform (for high school online students);
•AWARE stipends;
•Contract with ADTI for bus driver drug testing;
•Contract with OKTLE (teacher and administration evaluation program);
•Contract with Weaver Drug Testing (students);
•Approved Holder as the authorized representative for all state and federal programs for 26-27 school year; and
•Approved Holder as purchasing officer with a $2,500.00 limit on purchases and a 20% change order limitation up to $500.00.
Following a short executive session, members returned to the regular meeting and approved the resignations of Marcus Hall and Sarah Nicholson.
Members also approved the employment of Erin Digby as elementary teacher; Stephanie Rogers as middle school counselor/assistant principal; and Ty Ferguson as high school teacher.
In the principal’s reports, all building principals stated that building maintenance and cleaning had begun at each site as well as summer school.
Middle school principal Steven Pyle reported 15 for first day of summer school while intermediate principal John Mann reported 20 first day students.
High school principal Clete Cole gave a year- end report on school sports stating all teams finished the season strong.
Board member Benji Sartors was absent at the meeting.
