Sulphur Lady Bulldog cross country coach Kari Seitz said this week she is looking forward to another exciting cross country season. “The girls have worked hard all summer, putting in a lot of miles to build a strong foundation, and that dedication should pay off this fall,” she said.
“We only graduated two seniors from last year’s team, so we return with more experience and depth this year,” said Seitz.
The team will be led by seniors Jayden Lee and Hannah Hail.
“Jayden and Hannah are great leaders and both have a chance to have a very special year,” she said. “We’ll also rely on returning runners Paxtyn Hiser, Mady Hatfield, Landry Eason, Kerington Sloan, Alexa Medina, along with sophomores Hoda Garner and Kamree Quentin. We’re also excited to have a talented group of freshmen joining the team: Jozi Gilliam, Hensley Jarman, Huntley Hatfield, and Adalyn Whitehead. I’m excited about what they bring to the team & believe they’ll be big contributors from the start. There’s also a chance to gain some more runners once school starts.”
Staying healthy is always a big key going forward, said Seitz. “If we can do that, I think we have the potential for a very successful year. Our schedule is challenging, but it will provide great opportunities for our runners to improve each week and be ready when the postseason rolls around. The girls have put in the work all summer, and I’m excited to see what this team can accomplish.”
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will open the cross country season on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Bridge Creek meet.
