Sulphur’s Grant Bates, above right, was awarded the honor of being selected as the head coach for the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Basketball game held last Wednesday, July 29, on the University of Central Oklahoma campus in Edmond. Prior to the start of the game, Bates was recognized at mid court and was presented a plaque by OCA officials. Bates was successful in leading the Large West team (consisting of 4A- 5A and 6A players) to a 88-62 victory. Bates began his basketball coaching career in Sulphur in the fall of 2016. He served as an assistant coach before being named head coach in 2021.
