Another Epic Showdown Set Between Two Of State’s Top Teams

One of the most highly anticipated high school football games in Oklahoma will take place right here in Sulphur this Friday evening when the Bulldogs and Washington Warriors face off in what could be another epic battle between the two schools.

Last September, an overflow crowd at Agee Field watched as the Bulldogs snapped the Warriors’ 45-game win streak in a furious fourth quarter rally, and in the process launched one of the best seasons in decades. The Bulldogs went on to win 12 consecutive games before falling to multiple state title winner Lincoln Christian in the Class 3A finals.

Friday night’s game could have similar implications.

Both teams are ranked either first or second in their class, Sulphur in Class 3A and Washington in Class 2A-1, and each is coming off highly successful seasons.

Head Sulphur coach Corey Cole realizes full well the importance of this booming rivalry game.

“Lots of people have this as the game of the week, and if it’s anything like the last two or three games, it could be special,” he said. “It’s gonna be a great atmosphere and great game for high school football.”

For Sulphur, it will be their first of the 2026 season, but the Warriors are coming in after pounding Class 3A’s Perkins-Tryon, 34-0, in a week zero game last Friday night. The Bulldogs competed in a scrimmage at Harrah last Friday with several players making outstanding plays. Game-time is 7:00 p.m.
