William John “Bill” Phillips

William John “Bill” Phillips was born on November 9, 1944 to the late William E. and Grace A. (Drake) Phillips in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the age of 80.

Bill was known for his great love of people, his generosity, kindness and sense of humor. He always had a smile and joke. He loved all people. A person’s history, lifestyle, race, color, or choices did not matter to Bill. He would give you every last dollar and a place to stay. Everyone loved Dad, Papa Bill, and “Uncle Bill”.

Bill served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam and attained the rank of SSgt. He spent his life working in heating/air/refrigeration repair, television repair, and owning a variety of businesses. He retired and moved to Sulphur in 2011 where he spent many hours enjoying walks in the park, playing golf and enjoying time with family.

Bill was preceded in death by his twin brother, Edwin Phillips, and his younger brother Stephen Phillips; two special nieces, Tamera Drake, Tracey Rotrock and great-nephew, Marion Kitchens, III.

Bill is survived by his three children, Robert Phillips and wife, Vergie, Tonia Crittenden and husband, Kent and Matthew Phillips and wife, Jennifer; three granddaughters, Angela Bazaldua and husband Antonio, Jennifer Crittenden, and Samantha Phillips. Other surviving family members include two sisters-in-Law, Betty Phillips and Diane Phillips; two great-gGrandsons, Tyler and Tucker Bazaldua; two great-granddaughters, Eloise Bazaldua and Avery Crittenden; three nephews, Scott (and Debbie) Phillips, Jason (and Tanya) Phillips, Michael Phillips; and one niece, Kristin (and Tony) Merrill; special great-nephew, Marion (George) Kitchens, II; and a host of great and great-great- nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.

Bill was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be the late Marion Kitchens, III, Trai Phillips, Cory Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Carson Phillips, Miles Phillips, Garrett Merrill and Samantha Phillips A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025 in the Chapel at Crossway Baptist Church in Sulphur, with Pastor Bill Leveridge and Tonia Crittenden presiding. Atime of remembrance and fellowship will be held immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Tunnel to Towers or St. Jude’s Children’s Research or the charity of your choice.

Services are “Entrusted to” Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
