Alice B. Doty
Alice B. Doty
She married the love of her life, Cary “Bob” Doty, on May 24, 1968, in Guthrie. Together, they had one daughter, Tara Melissa.
They were married for 50 years and 10 months.
Their careers took them to Sulphur, Louisiana, for over a decade, where they made wonderful friends, and where Alice worked as a registered nurse in the local hospital. In 1979, they returned home to Oklahoma, and Alice worked at the Murray County Health Department until her retirement in 2010. Alice loved being a nurse and loved all her patients.
She never met a plant, flower, or tree that she didn’t like, and would spend hours gardening. She loved all creatures great and small… yes, even snakes and spiders. Her favorite thing in life was spending time with her grandson, Mason.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; grandson, Cooper Portillo; and brother Carroll Elmore.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Jose Portillo; her favorite person on Earth, her grandson, Mason Portillo; her nieces, nephews, other family members, and countless friends.
Acelebration of life will be held at Hale’s Funeral Home in Davis on June 7 at 11:00 a.m. Alice married into Sooner Nation and loved OU football, basketball, softball, women’s gymnastics, and women’s basketball, so feel free to wear an OU t-shirt to her celebration.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local animal shelter or the DisabledAmerican Veterans (DAV). Planting a tree or flower in her honor, or even adopting a pet from your local shelter, would make Alice happy, too.
Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home, of Davis.
