William R. “Bob” Davenport

Funeral services for Willam Robert “Bob” Davenport will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Midway Hill Baptist Church, with Brother Bobby Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Bob was born March 30, 1934, in County Line, OK to the late G.W. and Tennie Lee (Shrader) Davenport. He died Friday, June 13, 2025, in Davis, at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 14 days. Bob and the former Ms. Audrey Lee Bowling were married on January 1, 1954, in Sulphur. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2000.

Bob and his family moved from Ada to Davis at the beginning of his eighth-grade school year.After graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1952, he spent a brief time working for the Santa Fe Railroad in Amarillo, TX. He then returned home to Davis and began a 30-year career with the US Postal Service. He spent 25 years carrying mail in Davis, prior to spending his final five years at Stonewall, where he served as Postmaster.

Bob was a past member of the Davis Public Schools Board of Education, as well as a retired member of the Davis Fire Department. In addition to his employment with the Postal Service, he also spent many years doing carpentry work. Bob was a very skilled cabinet maker, doing the cabinetry work in countless homes in the area. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his four sons, Eddie Davenport & wife Jill of Pauls Valley, Larry Davenport & wife Hermila of Ponder, TX, Mike Davenport of Davis, and Kevin Davenport & wife April of Sulphur; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, George Davenport of Jones; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Johnson and two brothers, Howard and Charles Davenport.

Services are “Entrusted” to HALE’S FUNERAL HOME, DAVIS.
