Alfred Eugene Pitman

Alfred Eugene Pitman

Alfred Eugene Pitman, lovingly known as Gene, passed away on June 2, 2025 in a tragic motorcycle accident, at the age of 81. He was born on December 31, 1943 in Ada. Gene lived a life filled with adventure, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Gene had a lifelong passion for the open road and the skies. He served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. He found joy building and riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle and building and flying airplanes. He was licensed as a A&P (Airframe & Powerplant), IA (Inspection Authorization), and a Pilot. A talented mechanic and craftsman, Gene proudly passed his skills on to his sons and grandsons—leaving behind not just memories but a legacy of hands-on knowledge and self-reliance.

He was a devoted father to Christina Williams and husband David, Chris Pitman-and wife Dana, and Terry and Shirley Pitman. Gene was a proud grandfather to Makayla Hines and husband Clay, Matt Williams and wife Mary, Courtney Pitman, Brianna Pitman, Dalton Pitman, Jesse Pitman, Jourdan Atchley and husband Dalton, and Jake Pitman. His love continued through his great-grandchildren, Aubrey Hines, Cole Hines, Rhett Hines, Millie Hines, Bryar Timmons, Spurr Archer, Braizlee Shepherd, Stryker Atchley, and Silas Atchley.

Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Pitman; his parents Rosco and Maxine Pitman; his brothers, Frank, Jerry, and Gary Pitman; and his sister, Sue Shelden.

Gene’s life was a testament to hard work, family values, and a spirit of independence. Blessed with a keen intellect, and quick wit, he was always ready with a joke and a smile. His tragic and sudden loss is deeply felt, and he will be lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial and visitation service was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Crossway Baptist Church.

Arrangements made were under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home with military honors provided by Tinker Air Force Base.
