Darla grew up just outside of Wynnewood. She attended Joy School until the eighth grade and completed her high school years in Wynnewood. After graduating from Wynnewood High School, Class of 1975, she attended the nursing program at MidAmerica Vo Tech. Darla later attended Western Oklahoma State College where she earned her Registered Nurse’s degree in 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis; daughter, Jessica Thomasson and husband Coll of Davis; sons, Darren Higgins and wife Michelle of Midwest City, Austin Higgins and wife Shelby of Wynnewood, and Huston Higgins and wife Angie of Findlay, OH; her 11grandchildren; as well as her two sisters, Ferna Ward of Plano, TX and Diane Grove of Wichita, KS, and her brother, Jesse Green of Wynnewood.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 24, at Crossway First Baptist Church, in Sulphur, with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Wynnewood.
