Cherry Sandra Harlin was born December 20, 1943, in Macon, GA, to the late Jack Clarence and Edna Louise (Howell) Maddox. She died on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Sulphur, at the age of 81.

Cherry grew up in Bethany, graduating from Putnam City High School, Class of 1962. She and her family moved to Sulphur in the early 1970’s. Cherry was a stay-at-home mother, devoting her life to caring for her family. In her free time, she loved to fish, paint, and play bingo at the local Senior Citizens Center.

Cherry was baptized into the Church of Christ at the age of 12 and worked hard her entire life to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Peterson of Oklahoma City; her son, Dale Arms of Sulphur; two sisters, Elsie Binderim and husband Dwain of Sulphur and Samantha Akers of Mustang; three grandchildren, Ben Arms, Brandy Smith, and Bradley Wolf; 11 great-grandchildren, Austin Arms, Jason Arms, Lala Smith, Marcus Smith, Tahj Smith, Deanna Peterson, Kyi Peterson, Jadus Peterson, Athena Wolf, Jenson Wolf and Jasper Wolf; two great-great grandchildren, Mylo Smith and Jake Hernandez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Cherry was preceded in death by one grandson, Jake Peterson; five brothers, Dewell, Cecil, Fred, Rufus, and Ronnie Maddox; and niece Debra Stout.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Buckhorn Cemetery, south of Sulphur. Pastor Eddie Dye officiated the service.

Services are “entrusted to” Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
