Douglas Wade Stoliby

Douglas Wade Stoliby

Douglas Wade Stoliby passed away on July 16, 2025, at his home in Prairie View, Oklahoma, at the age of 60 years, 8 months, and 9 days.

Doug was born in Oklahoma City, to Wilburn Jones and Doris Sue (Shepherd) Stoliby on November 7, 1964. He was raised in Byars. He attended Byars School until the 8th grade, then attended Stratford High School and graduated in the class of ’82.

Doug was a very talented basketball player. He would always say, “When I stepped out on the court, there was no one better.” In his senior year, he was invited to play in the Tulsa All-Star game. He was also talented in football, baseball, and track.

He was baptized into The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on February 2nd, 1982, where God called him into the ministry. He was very strong in his faith and weathered many storms.

He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1987 to further his education in telecommunications. He was activated at the beginning of the Gulf War in 1990. He trained in the Mojave Desert for five months and was honorably discharged in 1995. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for about a decade before starting his own company, The Phone Specialist.

Doug married the love of his life, Lydia Yvette (Ellenberg) Stoliby, on June 4th, 1982. He also referred to her as “My Girl.” They were happily married for 43 years.

God blessed Doug and Yvette with 10 children. Everyone joked he had enough for his own basketball team. He considered himself blessed to be able to play basketball, volleyball, and many other sports with his children.

His version of a vacation was going on spiritual trips, where he met many brethren that he loved and cherished.
