Mrs. Bruster died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, in Sulphur. She was born March 7, 1928, in Madill to Chester Ried Coleman and Kathryn Mary Oliver Coleman.
She attended grade school in Marshall County and graduated from Madill High School in 1946.
She attended Southeastern State College in Durant from 1946 to 1948.
She married Orval Ray Bruster, July 3, 1948, in Madill.
She lived in Pauls Valley, Stillwater, Portales, New Mexico, Rattan, Kingston, and Atwood before moving to Roff in 1965.
Mrs. Bruster returned back to college at East Central University in Ada in 1964. She earned her B.S. degree in elementary education in 1967 and received her Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Oklahoma University in 1970.
She was a homemaker and taught school in the elementary department of the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur for 21 years. She retired in 1987.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roff where she served as Sunday School secretary and social director for the church. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association both OEA and NEA.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Morgan and her husband Jim, of Roff; Kathy Wellington and her husband, Rodd, Ada; one son, Ray Bruster and his wife, Melanie, Ardmore; brother, Jerry Coleman and his wife, Lucille, Madill; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Coleman, Independence, MO, and Sharlene Bruster, Owasso; seven grandchildren, Amanda Parnell and her husband, Jamie, Roff; Alicson Scott and her husband Jason, Hickory; Jimmy Morgan and wife Rebekah, Roff; Parker Wellington and wife Kailey, Ada; Katie Hill and husband Queston, Ada; Matthew Bruster and wife Emily, Milburn; and Kaitlin Bonner and husband Jeremy, Ardmore; and 13 great grandchildren, Coleton and Logan Parnell; Keela and Kayne Scott; James, Grace, and Faith Morgan; Hudson, Jack, and Gray Wellington; Zemi Hill; Wells Bonner; and Alvie Bruster. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Bruster; parents, Chester and Kathryn Coleman; and brothers, R.C. Coleman and Martin Wayne Coleman.
Bearers were her grandsons. Honorary bearers were Earl Stewart, Jeff Robertson, Mike McPherson, Ronnie Brock, Gary Cooper, Mike Bradley, Jerry Don Coleman, William Coleman and Ricky Coleman.
