Joe Bob was raised in Spiro, graduating from Spiro Schools in 1964. He later relocated to Davis, with his parents. Joe Bob acquired a teaching degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and helped shape the lives of many students and faculty at Wanette, Norman, and Wayne Schools.

Joe Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Freeland and Evelyne Johnson; his parents, Robert and Lois Dawson; Davis “Zack” Scott Powell (brothers in both of their eyes); and many others loved and cherished by Joe Bob.

He is survived by his godson, Jordan Powell and family of Wayne; godson, Jordan Rogers and family of Spiro; and a host of close friends he considered family.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the First Baptist Church of Davis to continue his legacy of service to those in need.
