Rodney E. Puckett

Rodney E. Puckett

Rodney Eugene Puckett was born May 14, 1930, in Monterey, CA, to the late Jesse M. and Florence L. (Magee) Puckett. He passed from this life on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Davis, at the age of 95 years, 4 months, and 19 days. Rodney and the former Ms. Edith Joan Bounds were married on January 19, 1957, in Torrance, CA. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2001.

Rodney grew up in California. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked for the VanCamp corporation as a forklift mechanic, prior to working for a smelting company.

In 1970, he and his family moved to Davis, where he worked for Jack Webb Construction Company, prior to working for Bruce Trucking. Rodney’s last employment was with Pitmon Oil & Gas, where he worked in various positions, but primarily overseeing the car wash.

Rodney was all about bartering, trading, and swapping. He was always looking to make his next trade, with both parties walking away feeling good about the deal. He was a man that never sat idle. He was always working on something or tinkering with some type of gadget in hopes he could revive and repurpose it. Rodney loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Spending time with family brought him immense joy. For many years, he and Joan were active members at the First Christian Church of Davis, where Rodney served as a deacon.

Survivors include his two daughters, Elaine Hoffman of Davis, and Martha Galloway and husband David of Brambleton, VA; his two sons, John Puckett and wife Marina of Santa Claritia, CA, and Joe Puckett of Davis; four grandchildren, Jeremy Hoffman and wife Lisa, Jessica Courtney and husband Jason, Trey Caram and wife Julie, and Morgan Galloway; and four great-grandchildren, Madison Atteberry and husband Braden, Shelby Courtney, Cameron Hoffman, and Easton Hoffman.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Rodney was preceded in death by three siblings, Catherine Floria, Jesse “Bud” Puckett, and Don Puckett.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a,m., on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at Hale’s Memorial Chapel, in Davis. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
