Bobby Ray Smith

Bobby Ray Smith was born June 18, 1952, in Sulphur, to the late West and Gladys Marie Smith. He died on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Ada, at the age of 73.

Bobby grew up in Sulphur. He and the former Ms. Joyce Marie Dehart were married on July 3, 1971, in Sulphur. Shortly after they married, he joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Bobby returned home to Sulphur where he spent several years working in the oil field with his brother. Later he worked at area rock crushers, retiring from Vulcan after 15 years.

Bobby, known by many as “Bigfoot,” was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Spending time with his family brought him immense joy. He was known to be a loyal friend, the type that was always willing to help anyone at any time. As one who liked to talk, he enjoyed sharing old life stories with friends and family. In his spare time, Bobby also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting local casinos.

Survivors include loving wife Joyce; one daughter Terri Bumgarner and husband James; son, Michael Smith and wife Heather; his four grandchildren, Chrysta Parks, Stacey Parks, Ashlee Burns and Hayslee Smith; as well as three great-grandchildren, Gage Pitts, Grant Courtney, and Karter Prather.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Dilbeck and Crystal Boch; one brother, Jimmy Lemming; and one granddaughter, Stephaney Parks.
