Jo Ann (Chadwick) Arms

Jo Ann (Chadwick) Arms

Jo Ann Arms was born February 7, 1935, in Sulphur, to the late N.A. and Cecil Mamie (Truitt) Chadwick. She entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Davis, at the age of 91 years and two months. She and Glen Arms were united in marriage on May 19, 1951, in Sulphur. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2019. Other family members preceding her in death include two sons, Rocky Dale and Bobby DonArms and her nine siblings, Jeff Chadwick, Ida Koontz, Raymond Chadwick, Jesse Chadwick, Lucille Birch, J.C. Chadwick, Wanda McBee, Mary Bateman, and Eunice Chadwick.

Jo Ann was a lifelong resident of Murray County. Once she and Glen married, they operatedArms Dairy. Glen would get up in the early hours of the morning, milk the cows, and then head off to his full-time job in the oil field. Jo Ann would then bottle the milk and head out on her route delivering milk door-to-door throughout the county. This practice continued for several years until Glen left his job in the oil field, and together, he and Jo Ann operated the dairy full time for 20+ years. They later sold the dairy cows and began running stocker cattle. After selling the dairy cattle, Jo Ann proudly bought herself a new Cadillac and together she and Glen traveled every chance they could.

In addition to her full-time work on the family dairy, Jo Ann worked as a waitress at the Freeman Livestock Auction for many years, as well as working as a house parent at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf. Jo Ann enjoyed working at OSD. She loved the kids and often brought kids home with her for the weekends and holidays.

Of all her jobs, her most favorite was being the mother of her three sons, Rocky, Bobby, and Joe. That job was eventually replaced by being a grandmother, which she cherished every aspect of.

Jo Ann Arms never met a stranger. She would talk to anyone, anytime and anywhere. She loved people which made it easy to love her. As a two-time cancer survivor, Jo Ann could most often be found wearing pink. She enjoyed walking in survivor walks and around the Sulphur park. In younger years, she, along with several of her friends, enjoyed riding horses.

Survivors include her son, Joe Glen Arms; daughter-in-law, Pam Arms; five grandchildren, Russel Arms and wife Amy, Nick Arms and wife Rachel, Stephanie Cason and husband Adam, Tara Asmus and Gunner Arms and wife Logan; 10 great-grandchildren, Deidra, Maggie and Sophia Asmus, Kaylie, Jordan and Landon Arms, Ava, Jolie and Maisie Cason, and her most recent born great-granddaughter, Sage Grace Arms. Jo Ann is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Jo Ann were held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Midway Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
