Monte Ross “Goober” Holland

Monte Ross Holland, 57, of Davis, also affectionately known as “Goober,” passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in his home.

He was born on January 23, 1969, in Neligh, Nebraska, to the late Robert J. Holland.

He was raised in Davis, graduating from Davis Public Schools in 1987. Following high school, he received a football scholarship to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he played one season of football, and later continued his education at the University of Oklahoma.

Goober was a longtime resident of Davis, where he remained a devoted supporter of Davis football. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gaming hobbies. Goober lived life to the fullest and had a gift for turning strangers into friends. He attended Crossway Church.

He is survived by his son, Peyton Blake Flatt and partner Matea Cobble of Norman; his brothers, Johnny Holland and wife Kristi of Little Elm, Texas, and Andy Holland and wife Janeva of Sulphur; his sisters, Suzy Holland of SanAntonio, Texas, Vikki Holland of Edmond, and Julie Holland Yoder and husband Alan of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Holland; and his grandparents, Ross and Hazel Holland.

Honorary bearers will Jody Weber, Kevin Birch, Bear Runyan, and Russell Hobbs.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends can donate and help ensure Goober’s legacy continues to touch the next generations of Davis Wolves. The Goober Holland Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established at Vision Bank. Donations can be made at any Vision Bank or mailed to Vision Bank 1200 E Main St Davis, OK 73030.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, at Crossway Church, in Sulphur with Willard McCartney offi ciating. Services are under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
