Shortly after his birth, the family moved from Loco, OK to Woodville, OK during the building of Lake Texoma. They later moved to Wynnewood View where they did sharecrop of cotton and broom corn. In 1947, the Hefley Family settled in Davis. Jerry Don is survived by his son, Bobby Del Hefley; his daughter, Jeana Smith and husband Justin; four grandchildren, Ashton Ingram, Dalton Ingram and wife Paige, Hunter Smith and Fisher Smith; two great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jerry Don was preceded in death by one daughter, Suzanne; as well as all of his beloved siblings: six sisters, Donna Dimple Buffington, Mary Norwood, Dorothy Timmons, Iva Nell Ruggs-Pletcher, Delma Ann Wilson, and Carra Mae Malicoat; and five brothers, Howard, Robert, R.L., Joe Bill and James Hefley, Jr; as well as his second wife, Dorothy Lee (Beck) Hefley Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Green Hill Cemetery, in Davis, with his great nephew, Tom Hefley officiating.
