Nina Ellen Towers

Nina Ellen Towers, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born in Sulphur, and in 1956, met and fell in love with Myron Towers, a young airman from Iowa. They were married 54 years until his death in 2010. Nina dedicated many years to Sulphur High School, serving as secretary to the principal and cheerleader sponsor, transporting her cheerleaders to all the away sporting events. Later in life she became a travel agent to satisfy her love for travel. She sailed on 19 cruises and traveled extensively around Germany. After retiring, she and Myron joined RVICS, (RV’s in service for Christ), a faithbased ministry organization where RVers volunteer their time to work on Church Camps, Children’s Homes, Churches and disaster rebuilding projects across the country. She and Myron volunteered at Teen Challenge in Colfax, Iowa for several years. Nina loved cats and always had at least one cat companion throughout her life.

Nina is survived by her daughters, Tammy Reaves and Linda Richmond; her grandchildren, Amanda Payne (Jesse), Molly Reaves, Aaron Richmond (Tammy) and Sarah Malone (Shaun); her great grandchildren, Ava Payne, Elijah Payne, Aspen Graves, Blake Bell (Elisa), Colton Bell, Wesley Richmond (Lily), Brandon Richmond, Kendall Malone (Jayli), Kinlyn Malone; and her great-great grandchildren, Ryder Richmond, Stetson Bell, Matt Henry and Micah Malone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Towers; her parents, Ira and Dorene Stephens; son-in-law, Don Reaves, Jr.; grandson, Spencer Reaves; and brother, Wyatt Stephens.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 403 W. Muskogee Ave, Sulphur, on Friday, June 12, 2026 under the direction of Walker Funeral & Cremation Service, of Shawnee.
