The family of Betty Terry Williamson, 88, is deeply saddened to share the news of her passing on April 23, 2026 in Olathe, KS.

Betty was born to Bernice and James Earl Doughty. She grew up with a deep love for her church and family.

She was a talented artist and pianist. While raising her family, Betty took on many roles including home room mother, boy scout den mother and Sunday school teacher. She never missed a little league game. She loved cooking, entertaining, decorating, country music and dancing.

While living in Sulphur, her family owned and operated Terry’s Grocery on 12th Street. She also enjoyed working at Larry’s Pharmacy where she got to know many in the Sulphur community.

After moving to Ardmore in the late eighties, she worked at Sunshine Industries helping people with special needs which was an extension of her innate kindness and compassion. In 2008, she moved to Kansas City where she worked for Malotte Care, LLC. While working there she was awarded the Kansas Award of Excellence for exemplary support for people with intellectual disabilities. She has a special way of connecting with people and was loved for her humor and constant sense of caring.

She is survived by her sister, Lynda Vandever Shapiro; son, Randy Terry and foster sons, George and Jim North; stepdaughters, Connie Chandler and Teresa Evans; and stepson, Cary Williamson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwane Williamson; son, Darren Terry; step-son, Gary Williamson and her parents.

A celebration of life is planned at 10:30 a.m. on June 30, 2026 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Ardmore, OK.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Evergreen Community in Olathe, for the unwavering support, love and care for Betty during her life.
