Wynona Amos

Wynona Amos, 80, was born in Wynnewood, on September 11. 1945, at home. She passed away in Muskogee, on June 6, 2026.

She was a lifelong resident of Wynnewood. Towards the end of her life, she lived with her son of Muskogee. She attended Wynnewood School, Carter Seminary and Sequoyah Indian Boarding Schools and Haskell College. She worked as an elderly caregiver for many years. She loved going to church, reading her Bible and doing word-search books. She was a proud and enrolled member as a Mississippi Choctaw of Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and a fluent speaker.

She is survived by one son, James B. Amos of Muskogee; daughter-in-law, FeliciaAmos,Ardmore; grandchildren, James JAmos, Detroit, MI., Callie Amos, Ardmore, Johnny Whealen, Edmond, and Ruth Nilson, Wagoner.

Wynona was preceded in death by parents, Rev. Bennett Amos and Annie Simmons Amos; brothers, Vester Amos, Harvey Amos, Wilson Amos, Samuel Amos, Morris Amos, Andrew Amos, Peter Amos and Mitchell Amos; sisters, Virgie Amos, Wilma Mae “Ruth” Amos, Irene Amos Gibson and Betsy Amos Phillips. Wynona had numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on June 12 at Renewing Life Church Friday, in Wynnewood with Bobby Amos officiating.

Services are under the direction DeArman Funeral Home Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
