It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Gordon “David” Kent on June 25, 2026 in Sulphur, at the age of 88.Adevoted husband, loving father, a courageous soldier, and a steadfast protector of his community. David leaves behind a legacy of unwavering service and selfless dedication.

David was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 17, 1938, he was the beloved son of John Frank Kent and Elizabeth Taylor Coates Kent. Driven by a deep sense of duty and an adventures spirit, David Proudly answered the call of his Country and enlisted in the United States Army at the young age of 16 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War era. David demonstrated remarkable bravery patriotism during a critical time in history. He later returned as a disabled Veteran after his honorable service.

Upon returning to civilian life, his commitment to protect others continued to grow. David transitioned into a dedicated career in law enforcement. He was a respected figure on the force, known for his integrity, courage, and desire to make his community a safer place.

While his dedication to his country and career were immense, his greatest joy was found later in life when he met the love of his life, Betty Brock. The two were married on December 18, 2021. Their beautiful love story was a testament to true devotion, proving that finding your soulmate brings immense joy at any stage of life. David cherished every single moment spent with Betty and their family.

David is survived by his beloved wife Betty Kent; his daughter Bonnie Kent; step daughters, Tina Hicks and husband Allen, and Jackie Snider and husband Zhan; his eight adorable grandchildren; his nine cherished great grandchildren; his sisters, Faye Kent and Ramona Kent; and his brother Bill Kent and wife Kim; multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents John Frank Kent and Elizabeth Taylor Coates; his brother Bobby Kent; and his sister Katherine Kent.

A graveside funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29,2026 at the Mill Creek Cemetery in Mill Creek, Oklahoma. Services were under the direction DeArman Funeral Home in Sulphur.
