Born on September 1, 1947, in Wynnewood, Sherri was the daughter of Louis and Gay Whitaker. She married the love of her life, Larry Woods, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and lasting memories. They made their home in Tishomingo, where they shared many wonderful years together.

Sherri was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Woods; her sister, Patricia Arnett; her brother, Kemp Whitaker; and her parents, Louis and Gay Whitaker.

She is survived by her sons, Kemp Woods and his wife, Chrissea, and Dustin Woods and his wife, Michelle Woods, all of Tishomingo; her brother, Louis Whitaker, of Spring, Texas; her grandchildren, Jessica and Brent Shelton, and Brett Woods; her cherished great-granddaughters, Chloe Shelton and Zoe Shelton; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Sherri was the beloved Middle School Librarian for 25 years and touched countless children’s lives along the way. She made each and every one of her students feel special and loved in the way only Sherri could.

Sherri’s greatest joy in life was her family. She will be remembered for her caring heart, quiet strength, and the unconditional love she shared with those around her. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family will remain a lasting legacy for all who knew and loved her.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Wynneood.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time. Though Sherri will be deeply missed, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Larry.
