Mildred Elaine (Evans) Simmons, 87, went home to be with her Lord on July 18, 2026, in Flower Mound, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Born to Howard and Muriel Evans, Elaine married Jerry Simmons in 1957, and together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Phillips University and taught elementary school in Enid for more than 20 years. In 1982, she was honored as Teacher of the Year. Following Jerry’s military service with the Oklahoma National Guard, they eventually settled near Davis, where they owned and operated Oak Tree Cattle Company. They were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Davis.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved stepfather, Jesse Valdez; her husband, Jerry Simmons; her brother, Richard Evans; her daughter-in-law, Heather Simmons; her granddaughter, Emily Anne Simmons; and her great-granddaughter, Sonora Jean Simmons.
She is survived by her sons, James Simmons (Monica) of Lake Whitney, Texas; John Mark Simmons (Debbie) of Northlake, Texas; and Jeremy Simmons of Leesburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Davis, followed by interment at Elmore City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
