Bettye McClure

Bettye McClure

Bettye McClure, a resident of Sulphur, was born on November 29, 1946 in Ada, to Lahoma (Pettigrew) and Jessie Allen. She passed away surrounded by family on September 29, 2026 in Sulphur, at the age of 79. Bettye married Paul McClure on October 16, 1980 in Paris, TX and they spent the remainder of their lives together.

Bettye embraced life with an open heart, finding happiness in both everyday pleasures and new adventures. She loved shopping, exploring estate sales, and trying her luck at the casino. An avid traveler, Bettye delighted in discovering new places and creating memories that she carried with her and shared with those she loved.

More than anything, Bettye cherished her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and time spent with them brought her immeasurable joy. She gave them her love freely, filled their lives with laughter, and created countless memories that will remain close to their hearts. Her family will forever miss her presence while carrying the warmth of her love with them.

One of the family’s favorite jokes was that if you wanted to see Bettye dressed and ready for the day, you had better arrive before 5:00 p.m.—because after that, she was probably relaxing comfortably in her robe! This familiar tradition was one of the many endearing details that made Bettye so wonderfully herself and brought smiles to everyone who knew and loved her.

Bettye’s legacy lives on in the family she adored, the laughter she inspired, and the memories she created. Her love will continue to guide and comfort those who knew her, and her stories will be shared and treasured for generations to come.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, Lahoma (Pettigrew) and Jessie Allen; son, Jay J. McClure; sister, Jimmie Mann; brothers, Buddy Allen and Ronnie Allen.

Bettye leaves behind her beloved husband, Paul of the home; her sons, Jeff and Shelly Hagle of Healdton, Chris and Melissa McClure of Sulphur, and Paul Jr. and Robin McClure of Sulphur; several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren hosts of nieces/nephews and extended family.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct.1, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at DeArman Funeral Home in Sulphur. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. at Drake Cemetery, south of Sulphur, on Friday October 2, 2026 with Rev. Dick Terry officiating.
