Jimmy Lee McBee

Jimmy Lee McBee

Jimmy Lee McBee, 77, of Sulphur, was born August 14, 1946 in Comanche, to the late Chester and Opal McBee.

Jimmy Lee was lovingly known Papaw by many family members. He went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Evelyn Hunter McBee, of Dougherty. Evelyn has always been the love of his life and he treated her with a shining love that everyone who knew them understood how deep their bond was.

Jimmy served in the Army National Guard and went on to retire from Haliburton in Duncan. After retirement he continued to work part time at Sooner Foods in Sulphur. He was a man who had a need to always be in motion helping other’s anyway he could. Jimmy was the type of man who would literally give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it. He was a kind, gentle and hard worker dedicated to improving the life of those around him.

He spent his life exemplifying the love of our Lord and Savior. Always a shining example of a life blessed and well lived. We find peace and solace in knowing he is in heaven now enjoying the presence of our Lord.

His love for his family was unwavering and the patience he had displayed, made him the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, in-law and friend. He was especially devoted to the little ones of the family as well as his beloved pet, Max. He spent a great deal of his time woodworking, making rocking chairs for each baby born into the family. These chairs have become heirlooms to be treasured by every single child.

One of his favorite past times was tinkering in his shop and taking care of the large lawn. He seemed happiest riding on his lawnmower, just enjoying the sunshine and the beautiful end-product of a perfectly manicured yard. He had a love for travel and spent a lot of time on the road with family traveling across America.

Other survivors include one son, Michael McBee and wife Stacey of Oklahoma City; one stepdaughter, Sandy Wilbur and husband, Bill of Keller, Texas; and three stepsons, Jim Davidson and wife, Bretta of Gladewater, Texas; John Davidson and wife Carol of North Richland Hills, Texas; and Jack Davidson and wife, Melissa of Sulphur; a sister, Carolyn Boyer and husband, Jess of Comanche; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother and sister in-laws. This is a large family of love, laughter and compassion.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Opal and father, Chester as well as a nephew, David McBee.

Graveside services will be held at the Dougherty Cemetery at a later date under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home.
