Gary Lloyd Johnson
Gary Lloyd Johnson was born July 15, 1944, in Bowie, TX, to the late Harold L. and Jerry D. (Jarvis) Johnson Downing. He died on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 80. Gary and the former Ms. Barbara F. Duggins were married on June 5, 1963, in Mangum. To this union were born two sons, Dustin and Brandon. Gary grew up in Mangum. After graduating from Mangum High School, Class of 1962, he continued his education at OSU Tech in Okmulgee, where he earned a degree in Electrical Construction. Following college, Gary worked as an oil field electrician for Conoco Oil in Enid. In 1980, he happily accepted a promotion and moved his family to Davis. He later worked for Haliburton Services in both Davis and Duncan, prior to retiring from the Hanover Corporation. Throughout his career, he also owned and operated Johnson’s Electric. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara; Dustin Johnson of Sulphur, Tammy Johnson of Davis and Brandon Johnson and wife Melody of Midwest City; six grandchildren, Tyler Johnson and wife Brittany, Kylie Griffin and husband Chance, Dylen Merrell and husband Trever, Dane Johnson, Austin Johnson and Caleb Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Saylor, Cannon, Presti, Teller, Ronin, Rook, Ryker and LaRue; as well as one sister, Karen Kaiser and husband Terry, one brother, Duane Johnson, and one brother-in-law Bob Duggins and wife Charla of the Woodlands, Tx.

Sulphur softball won four more games during a busy week, pushing the Lady Dogs record to 6-4 on the young season.

Dogs Scrimmage At Lindsay, Prep For Final Tuneup At Plainview Thursday
The Bulldogs ran through their first scrimmage of the season at Lindsay last Friday and will be prepping for this Thursday’s final scrimmage at Plainview. It will go off at 7:00 p.m. Sulphur will open the season on Friday, Sept. 6 at Washington.
