Betty Jean Veach

Betty Jean Veach was born July 19, 1952, in Wynnewood, to the late Jim and Velma D. (Buckaloo) Cottrell. She died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022, in Davis, at the age of 70. Betty and Ronnie James Veach were married on March 24, 1971, in Sulphur. From this union was born one son, Rodney.

Betty grew up in Davis, where she attended school. After high school, she spent a few years working as a cosmetologist in Davis. After she and Ronnie married, they relocated to Oklahoma City, where she spent many years working as a certified property manager, managing large apartment complexes in the Oklahoma City area. Following her retirement in 1990, they moved back to Davis.

Betty was an avid reader, continually reading anything and everything she could find. Although she left cosmetology many years prior, she still enjoyed doing hair for family and friends. Much of her spare time was spent watching old western shows and movies.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie; son, Rodney Veach and wife Rebekah of Davis; four grandchildren, Shianne, Nikki, Brock, and Gabriel; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Williams and Catherine Matthews; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one sister, Gaylene Milam, and one brother, Ronald Dean Cottrell.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16, at Hale’s Memorial Chapel, in Davis, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Blalock, Dusty Hunt, Terry Blalock, Richard Blalock, Brian Blalock, James Tillery and Bart Stover.
