Bobby Deen “Cotton” Slaughter

Services for Bobby Deen “Cotton” Slaughter, 79, of Sulphur, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek, with Rev. Darryl Patrick officiating. Interment followed in Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Born February 23, 1943 in Sulphur to Arvil and Leoria (Patrick) Slaughter, he passed away Tuesday, March 29, in Sulphur.

Cotton grew up in the Mill Creek area, graduating from Mill Creek High School in 1961.

He married his high school sweetheart, Dena Gay, on November 1, 1963. They lived in Newton, Kansas for 34 years before moving to Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas before retiring in Sulphur in 2007. Cotton loved sports, both playing and coaching, and was an avid golfer.

He was very social and loved spending time with friends and family. Cotton was always playing jokes and goofing around.

Cotton was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Virginia Rose and Betty Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Dena Slaughter, Sulphur; daughters, Gaye Lynne Wray and husband Bobby, of Newton, Kansas, Deneen Fayette and husband, David, of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Jim Slaughter and wife, Julie, of Oregon and Bill Slaughter and wife, Mary, of Sulphur; two sisters, Geraldine Niblett and husband, Bob, of Newton, Kansas and Linda Trice, of Tishomingo; five grandchildren, Tasha Herrington, Matt Herrington, Jacob Fayette, Daniel Fayette, and Rachel Fayette; four great grandchildren, Xavi, Kye, Miracle, and Evan.

Pallbearers were Bobby Wray, David Fayette, Jacob Fayette, Stacy Tyson, Johnny Slaughter, Matthew Herrington, and Daniel Fayette, Arrangements were under the direction of DeArman Funeral
