Cheryl Lynn Tobey

Cheryl Lynn Tobey was born March 29, 1949, in Tyler, TX, to the late J.W. “Bill” and Elizabeth Maurine (Johnston) Anderson. She passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in Davis, at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 13 days. She and David Lewis Tobey were married on January 26, 1968, in Nederland, TX. From this union were born two children, Sallie and John.

Cheryl grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School, in Tyler, Texas, she attended Tyler Junior College. From Tyler, she and David moved to Duncan, OK, where they started their family. In 1979, Cheryl and her family moved to Davis. While residing in Davis, Cheryl spent many years working for the Moore family, at Billee’s Gift Tree and late at City Drug. Following her retirement in 2014, she spent much of her time volunteering and serving at the First Baptist Church. Cheryl had a servants-heart and was always willing to lend a hand anywhere she could. In earlier years, while the kids were in school, Cheryl was very active with the Davis FFA Chapter. Her continued involvement with Davis FFA was memorialized by receiving the prestigious award of “Honorary Chapter Member”.

Survivors include her husband, David; daughter, Sallie Tomlinson and husband Eddie Ray; John Tobey and wife Amber, all of Davis; six grandchildren, Chazton Tobey, Makala Tobey, Ethan Tomlinson, Justin Tomlinson and wife Haleigh, Lacie Bergeron and husband Daylon, and Kalie Watson and husband Collin; five great-grandchildren, Tatum Nicole, Lincoln Lee, Lawson James, Rylen James, and Layton Marie; and one brother, Billy Gene Weir and wife LaDonna of Stillwater, niece Lana, and her kids Jennifer, Eric, Patrick; niece Lori and her husband Bruce and their kids Megan, Baylie, Robert; nephew Chip and his wife Patty and their kids Christopher, Samantha, Caroline and Jake, brother in laws, Jerry Lyn Tobey, David Wayne Tobey and son Logan, Darrell Ray and Lori Tobey, daughters Candace and Josie; as well as several great-great nieces and nephews.

In Addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her father-in-law Dewey Ray Tobey, Jr. and mother-in-law Marjorie Tobey.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 17, 2022, at Hale’s Memorial Chapel, in Davis, with Pastor Johnny Tonihka officiating. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
