Doyle Junior Mink

Doyle Junior Mink, 97 of Buncombe Creek, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at his home in Buncombe Creek. He was born on December 18, 1926, in Wynnewood, to the late Hugh Alexander Mink and Lillian Rebecca Robertson Mink.

Doyle was raised in the New Hope and Wynnewood, area. At age of 15, he moved to Sulphur In 1945, Doyle was drafted into the United States Army, serving during WWII.

He married Mildred Pearl Shackleford on September 3, 1949, in Pauls Valley. He continued his military service in the U.S. Army Reserves and worked in the construction and home building trades. He later transferred to the Oklahoma Army National Guard, where he served as a full time technician for 20 years. Doyle had a total of 42 years military service retiring as a Master Sergeant. Mildred and Doyle owned and operated the bowling alley in Sulphur until 1990 when they moved to the Buncombe Creek area. Doyle was an outstanding home builder and mechanic.

Doyle was affiliated with the Baptist faith, and enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, hunting, bowling and gardening.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Mildred Pearl Mink, Buncombe Creek; children, Tricia A. Barnes and Al, Durant,Vicky J. Adamson, Buncombe Creek, and Connie Braden and husband Tim, Notasulga, Alabama; grandchildren, Sheki Stovall and husband Shane, D. J. Mink and wife Makyorie, Rina Chew and husband Rob, Tricia Stephens and husband Tracie, Melissa Klebba and husband Joseph, Robert Mink, Aaron Braden and wife Hannah, and Kaycee Highsmith and husband Garrett; 21 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary D. Mink; and grandson, Creston E. Barnes.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Watts Funeral Home, Kingston, Oklahoma with Mike Carr officiating. Interment followed at the Shay Cemetery, Shay, Oklahoma. Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
