Edmond Marie Richards

Edmond Marie Shanholtzer-Richards, better known as “Marie,” was born September 14, 1944, in Davis, to the late Edmond Biles and Zelma Marie (Honeycutt) Rogers. She died on Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Sulphur, at the age of 77.

Marie grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School, class of 1962. She spent her working career as a certified nurse’s assistant, employed with area nursing homes and the Sulphur Veteran’s Center. Following her retirement in 2002, Marie enjoyed fishing, gardening, and tending to her flowerbeds. She was an avid fan of bull riding.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Lynn Beaver of Ardmore; son, Thomas Brian Ayers of Davis; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Carolyn England of Davis.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Michelle Ayers; brother, Buddy Rogers; stepfather, Ernest Rogers; and her beloved husband, Michael Lawrence “Mike” Shanholtzer.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Oct. 21, at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, with Pastors Eddie Dye and Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating.

Services were “entrusted to” Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis.
