Elsa Emma Greenlaw

Elsa Emma Greenlaw

Elsa Emma Greenlaw was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late John and Velva (Wolfe) Hoglund on October 25, 1928. She passed away on December 27, 2021, in Flower Mound, Texas at the age of 93 after a long battle with dementia and its resulting complications.

Elsa’s family moved to Kansas for her younger years before settling in New Jersey, where she graduated from Union High School in 1946. Elsa worked as an administrative assistant after high school and spent many years working for Indian Head Publishing officed within the Empire State Building in New York City. She enjoyed traveling, golf, and skiing in her younger adult years, the latter of which introduced her to a fellow ski club member, Robert (Bob) Bryson Greenlaw. Robert and Elsa were married on April 4, 1964, and settled in Florham Park, New Jersey. Elsa and Robert adopted a son, William (Bill) in 1970 and moved to Oklahoma in 1972, where they settled in a home near the Lake of the Arbuckles.

She obtained her real estate license and worked in that industry for almost 35 years before fully retiring at the age of 81. She remained in the lake home until 2016, when the needs of her care required her to relocate to Texas to be closer to her son.

While missing the East Coast, Murray County quickly became her home. Elsa loved nature and enjoyed walking the trails in the park and around the lake area with her pets and continued to do so into her early eighties. Her love of reading was ever present, and she was very active in the local book club for many years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and subsequently Crossway Baptist Church up until the time her health prevented regular attendance. She enjoyed observing and feeding the animals that would approach her home at the lake. If there are foxes, deer, and birds in heaven, it is a fact that they are now being overfed regularly upon Elsa’s arrival. While a getting a direct and candid opinion was always a possibility around Elsa; she truly lived a selfless life, always putting the needs of her loved ones ahead of her own, and she will be greatly missed.

Elsa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and brother, Kay Hoglund. She is survived by her son, William (Bill) and his wife, Angie of

She is survived by her son, William (Bill) and his wife, Angie of Highland Village, Texas; grandchildren, Hunter and Connor Greenlaw, and Gavin and Foster Healy; her niece, Christine Bowe of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and great-nieces, Kimberly and Katherine.
