Gerald Lee “Rock” Vannoy

Gerald Lee “Rock” Vannoy was born July 25, 1934, in Maud, to the late Ernest and Retha (Sartain) Vannoy. He passed from this life on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Ardmore, at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 12 days. Gerald and the former Ms. Anna E. Sekavec were united in marriage on September 29, 1956, in Ardmore. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2010.

Shortly after his birth, Gerald’s family moved to Capitol Hill, prior to settling in Sulphur, where he grew up. After graduating from Sulphur High School, Class of 1953, he joined the United States Air Force. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Gerald and Anna made their home in the Bethany/ Yukon areas where he worked for Western Electric, now known as AT&T. After a 30+ years career in telecommunications, Gerald and Anna relocated to Davis to be closer to family and enjoy their retirement years.

Gerald was a creative man. He enjoyed tinkering with things around the house that needed fixing. He felt most comfortable being at home, mowing and tending to his yard. Gerald was a very friendly man. He never missed an opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors when their paths crossed.

Survivors include his four children, Jerry Vannoy and wife Charlotte of Burneyville, Perry Vannoy and wife Betty of Yukon, Christy Vannoy of Burneyville, and Andra Brewer of Sulphur; two grandchildren, Kylie and Tori Scheller; two great grandchildren, Eiver and Tilley; nephew, Andy Payne and wife Ruth; great niece and nephew, Britton Hill and Payton Brewer; as well as other nieces, nephews and cousin.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gerald was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Eugene “Pooh” Vannoy; two sisters, Sue Calliger and Gail Wampler; his beloved aunt, Clarene Ross; son-in-law, Coley Brewer; sister-in-law, Carol Payne; and niece, Kelly Payne Brewer.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur, with Pastor Bryan Hetherington officiating.
