Herbert “Don” Adams

Herbert “Don” Adams was born in Mize, KY on February 12, 1935, to Orville and Nancy Adams. He grew up in Kentucky and later moved to California, where he spent most of his life.

Don met his wife, Ethel Adams in California and was married in 1961. They were married 63 years and had four children.

Don drove a semi-truck all over the country for years. He also worked for UnitedArtist for ten years. He loved horses, rode in parades, and was active in horse gymkhana events with his horse, Ba-Shiek.

Don and his wife relocated to Sulphur, OK in 2000. He and his wife owned and operated an antique store, Ethel’s Collectibles. They both enjoyed spending time selling and shopping at the local dog trade with their daughter Sue and other family members. He enjoyed spending time and the holidays with his family. Don loved western movies and was always seen wearing his western hat. He was friendly and enjoyed visiting people in the community, as he would say; he never met a stranger.

Don passed away on March 30, 2024, in his home, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 89 years old. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Don is survived by his wife Ethel; four children, son David Allen & partner Jesus Ramirez of Calif, daughter Sandra Glasgow of Calif, daughter Sue Hughes & husband Gary of Okla, and son Don Adams Jr. & wife Staci Adams of Calif; nine grandchildren, granddaughter Donna Chisholm & husband Scott, granddaughter Kristal Emery, granddaughter Audrey Taylor, granddaughter Jessica Taylor, granddaughter Imogen Adams, granddaughter Amanda Adams, grandson Jacob Adams, grandson Jared Glasgow, and grandson Cameron Glasgow; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brother Dale Adams & wife Linda, and brother Paul Adams.

Don is proceeded in death by his parents Orville and Nancy Adams, brother J.B. Adams, sister Margie Paul, and grandson B.J. Emery.

Funeral services will be held 1:00PM, Friday, April 5, 2024, at Hale’s Memorial Chapel, in Sulphur, with the Reverend Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur. Family visitation will be held Thursday evening, April 4th, from 6:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
