J. C. Corley

Services for J.C. Corley will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Hale’s Memorial Chapel, in Sulphur, with Reverend Bill Kirkpatrick officiating.

J.C. was born July 18, 1931, in Ardmore, to the late John Clement and Maude Belle (Hutton) Corley. He died Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Sulphur, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 12 days.

J.C. grew up in Sulphur, where he played football for Sulphur High School, earning a four-year scholarship to the old Oklahoma A&M (now OSU). From college, he joined the United States Navy, serving four years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, J.C. moved to Texas where he met the former Ms. Tommie Ann Kirkpatrick. He and Tommie were united in marriage on February 2, 1959, in Dallas.

J.C. spent his career working in the aircraft industry. His career began with Chance, Vought, Menasco, prior to working for Bell Helicopter, where he retired in 1997, as a manufacturing engineer. In his spare time, he enjoyed football, working on the engines of his cars, and keeping a well-groomed yard. He always wanted more elbow room, so in 2000, he and Tommie moved to Sulphur, where he purchased a home with four acres. J.C. was a loving husband and a good father to his children, setting an example of good character.

He is survived by his wife, Tommie; two daughters, Tracey Tarbet and husband Jeff of Euless, TX, and Robin Martinez and husband Charlie of Cypress, TX; five grandchildren, Zachary and Zoe Tarbet, Rachel Jadermeo, and Victoria and Patrick Martinez; as well as several nieces and nephews.
