Jan Fisher

Jan Fisher

Those reading this can be sure Jan Fisher considered them a friend. She was a warm and principled person and a tremendous comforter. Jan’s family couldn’t be more proud to have learned from her the values of resilience, compassion, kindness, and doing right and good. She made many sacrifices for her family but always left room for her dry sense of humor and the joy of an occasional gag. Jan was perfectly content with finding joy in the simplest things and had a great love of nature, science, and— most of all— children.

Jan was a 1958 graduate of Sulphur High. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, P.E.O. International, the Church of Christ, and lovingly served as the secretary at Sulphur Elementary School for decades before spending 10 years with Edward Jones. A quality appreciated by many was Jan’s willingness and innate ability to find good in everyone while rarely missing an opportunity to give to them or provide service. From this, she saved virtually every note of thanks or greeting card she received over the years.

Jan passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2021, with family present. She was born November 13, 1940, to John and Mildred Spradling in Sulphur. She was married to Jack Fisher for 59 years, until his passing. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Jimmy Spradling; a daughter, Dina Magruder; and a granddaughter, Sara Swartz.

Survivors include a brother, John Spradling (Beverly); a sister-in-law, Pam Spradling; daughters, Kerri Williams (Thad) and Shaun Swartz (Andy); a son, Patrick; a son-in-law, Monty Magruder; grandchildren, Jessica Williams (Colt), Drew Swartz, Alex Swartz (Emily Jackson), Zac Swartz, Talley Thomas (Robert), Nick Magruder, Austin Williams (Jordyn), Greyson Williams, Manon Fisher (Joe Sullivan), and Madelyn Fisher; great-grandchildren, McCoy Williams, McKinley Williams, Slater Thomas, Sterling Thomas, and Baker Jayne Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews.
