Funeral services for Juanita Ruth Lewis were held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at the Pathway Methodist Church, in Davis, with Pastors Robert Harrison and Ben Williams officiating. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Juanita was born on July 13, 1928, in Love County, OK, to the late Leonard Samuel and Eva (Welch) McDaniel. She died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 95. Juanita and Norman Ferrell Lewis were married on March 31, 1948, in Marietta, and were blessed with 68 years of marriage, prior to his death on December 6, 2016.

Juanita, or “Ms. Lewis” as most knew her, grew up in southern Oklahoma. After graduating from Healdton High School in 1945, she attended the Ardmore Business School. She spent the earlier years of her working career with Farmers & Ranchers Insurance Company in Ardmore, prior to being employed with the Davis Public School System as the high school secretary for 27 years.

Ms. Lewis was a truly kind, loving individual. While working at the high school, she touched the lives of countless students, earning the title of “Office Mama.” She cared deeply for the students and in turn, the student loved her. She was known for taking care of business yet having fun while doing so.

Juanita was a member of the First United Methodist Church, since 1949. Other memberships include Beta Sigma Phi, as well as an Honorary Member of the Davis FFA. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, working puzzles, and in her own writing, “life in general.”

Survivors include one son, John Samuel Lewis and wife Sally of Davis; daughter-in-law, Becky Lewis of Moore; four grandchildren, Amber Lewis Culbert and husband Stephen, Bryan Lewis and wife Kaci, Mitch Lewis, and Travis Southerland and wife Tasha; as well as four great-grandchildren, Megan and Liam Culbert, Creedan Southerland, and Payton Hill.

In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by one son, Norman Keith Lewis.
