Kelly Elieen Lewis Bishop

Kelly Eileen Bishop passed from this world into her heavenly home on December 27, 2022 following a long and courageous battle.

Kelly was born on April 24, 1956, in Wheeler, Texas, to parents Lloyd Lewis and Nelda Lewis. The family relocated to Oklahoma City, when Kelly attended Cleveland Elementary, Taft Junior High and Northwest Classen High school. She was baptized at age 8 at Kelham Avenue Baptist Church and then worshiped at Northwest Baptist Church through her high school graduation. Kelly was active in Sunday School, choir, Girls Auxiliary, and mission trips.

Kelly received her bachelors degree from Central State University in Edmond, in 1980 majoring in business administration, sales and marketing promotion. Kelly worked for companies to include Acco Office Supply Co., Oklahoma Journal, Southwestern Bell and Advo. Kelly moved to Kansas City and obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology from Avila University in Kansas City, Mo., in 2007, while raising her son, Christopher Thomas Bishop. Kelly also worked for Autism Speaks, Jared Jewelry, and Kay’s Jewelry and Soma. Kelly and husband, Robert Wimhurst attended Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Ks., pastored by Adam Hamilton.

Kelly was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Michael Greer of Broken Arrow; grandparents, Oscar and Elien Huffines of Sulphur; and grandparents, Finis and Opal Lewis of Shawnee.

Kelly is survived by her husband, Robert Wimhurst of Overland Park, KS.; her son, Christopher Thomas Bishop of Overland Park, KS; parents, Lloyd and Nelda Lewis of Broken Arrow; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Pamela Wimhurst of Toronto, Canada; aunt, Reba Blackburn of Sulphur; sister, Becky Greer of Broken Arrow; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Kelly loved interior design, fashion, OU Sooners and KC Chiefs football games, reading, PastorAdam Hamilton’s sermons and all dogs.

A celebration of Life for Kelly is being planned for the spring 2023, exact date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations in Kelly’s name may be made to local SPCA.
