Services for Kenny Vess Lowrance, 81, Sulphur, were held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Sulphur United Methodist Church officiated by Shawn Williams. Burial was at Lowrance Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home.

Born September 7, 1940 in Sulphur, to W. B. and Alice (Bailey) Lowrance, he passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, in Sulphur, at the age of 81 years and 16 days.

Kenny married to Debbie (Bartley) Lowrance on May 23, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death June 6, 2015.

Kenny grew up in Sulphur, where he graduated Sulphur High School. He then graduated from OSU in 1963. He taught high school science and chemistry in several schools including Oilton and Jennings before teaching at Davis. Kenny also coached girl’s basketball at these locations. After his retirement in Oklahoma, he taught at Frisco, Lindsay and Quinlan, Texas, retiring after 10 years.

After retiring, Kenny worked for the Chickasaw Nation as a counselor for the Summer Youth Program for several years.

Kenny was a calf roper and taught people to rope and tie. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat Taylor; and brother, Joe Lowrance.

He is survived by his daughters, Shannon Lowrance, Jody Lowrance, and Kelly Lowrance. Two years ago, Kenny was contacted by Rozanne Lewis, a daughter who he was unaware was born while he was at OSU. He was surprised, but happy she had found him. Also surviving include one grandchild, Cooper Vess Cleburn; and brother, Wayne Lowrance, of Sulphur.

Pallbearers were H. C Rackley, Tony Evans, Ronald Trett, David Ward, Pecos Williams, and Landon Lowrance.
