Funeral services for Larry Gene Beam will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Larry was born February 10, 1946, north of Lindsay, OK, to the late Albert “Buck” and Juanita (Colbert) Beam. He died on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, in Sulphur, at the age of 77.

Larry grew up in Lindsay. After graduating from Linsday High School, he served in the United States Army, 1966-1968, with one tour of Vietnam. Following an honorable discharge from the Army, Larry returned home and began a 30-year career in law enforcement with the Pauls Valley Police Department, retiring in 2008 as the assistant police chief.

Larry had several hobbies that occupied his spare time, including riding motorcycles, gunsmithing, hunting and doing family genealogy.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Gene Beam, Jr and wife Amy of Woodward, Jason Lawson of Sulphur, and Justin Lawson and wife Lillian, also of Sulphur; three daughters, Janette Murphy and husband Tim of Granby, MO, Sunni Lynn Beam of Norman, and Jennifer Lawson of Hurst, TX; as well as 15 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by the love of his life, Phyllis Kay Lawson-Beam; and three siblings, Oleta Estes, Kenneth Beam and Lynn Beam.
