Leroy Duane Crawford
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023 for Leroy Duane Crawford at the Pocasset Cemetery, with Rev. Brian Haynes officiating. Interment followed in Pocasset Cemetery, Pocasset, under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.
Leroy Duane Crawford was born December 29 1939, in Elgin, to Leroy and Agnes Leona (Ellis) Crawford. He passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in Chickasha, at the age of 83 years and and 5 days.
Duane’s family moved to Chickasha when he was two years old and he made Chickasha his home. He attended school in Chickasha and later joined his father and grandfather in the Crawford Roofing business, which he later became the owner.
At age 15 he was baptized and joined the Baptist Church.
He married Betty L. Riley on July 9, 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Duane was a very caring person, always willing to help someone in their time of need.
In Sulphur, he took kids to buy their back-to-school supplies and clothes and wanted nothing in return but their happiness. He was known by his readiness to give out bubble gum and cinnamon suckers. Duane was a good son, husband, father and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lorinda; sister, Janice McClain; brother, Bo Crawford; grandchildren, Joshua Leroy Scott, and Hayden Dale Crawford.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Crawford; two sons, Scott Crawford and Andrew Crawford and wife, Malinda; two daughters, Dedra Cooley and husband, Kenneth, and Shelli Crawford; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Sondra Clagg and husband, Major and Paula Franklin and husband, Jeronie; five brothers, Mike Crawford and wife. Darlene, Jack Crawford and wife, Debbie, Bill Crawford and wife, Jodi, Randy Crawford and wife, Kathy, Tim Crawford and wife, DeeDee; a sister-in-law, Pat Crawford; and a brother-in-law, Sam McClain.
Pallbearers were Andrew, Blaise, Christian, Cody, Brandon, and Dalton.
Local arrangements were under the direction DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur with assistance from McCray Funeral Home in Chickasha.
